The Greenstar features three modes of power management; idle, suspend and power down (auto-switching):

• Idle mode; hard drive is waiting for read/write commands from the system. 80% power consumption.
• Suspend mode; hard drive activity is suspended. The hard drive is still alive but power consumption is only at 20%.
• Power down mode; the hard drive is shut down and there is no power to the hard drive. The only component consuming power is the control board. 7% power consumption.
