Grazer Pty Ltd is an Australian-owned specialised software company located in Adelaide, South Australia. Grazer provides consultancy services to accompany the Grazer software package enabling efficient asset management and maintenance for any business.
Grazer Pty Ltd formed from humble beginnings in 1997, when Grazer’s founder, John Martin worked as a draughtsman for the Chek Lap Kok airport runway lights in Hong Kong. The airport runway had approximately 15,000 lights and John's job was to update the drawings and assist with the operation and maintenance manuals. At handover, the company contracting the work handed over 3 copies and multiple volumes of Operation and Maintenance Manuals to the Airport Authority; 4 ring folders with an index and folded drawings and documentation - a massive documentation job.
John could see a better way…. the dream was to provide all this information in digital format - operation and maintenance manuals, CAD files and various Windows documents. Subsequently Grazer was born.
Grazer's focus is to “sustain the importance of design/construction drawings and documentation for the life of a facility”.
In the past, people have relied on 4 ring folders (Operation and Maintenance Manuals) to provide indexed documentation and folded up, potentially out of date drawings to operate and maintain their facility. From the time a facility is handed over after construction the contractor provides 12 months of warranty for their installation, however there is no emphasis in updating drawings and documentation because the process is time consuming.
There is a demand across all business sectors to maintain and operate their infrastructure with a minimal risk while complying with Government and Councils Essential Services Maintenance. Failure to do so exposes an organisation to productivity losses, financial losses and could threaten the health and safety of its facility and employees.
The building and manufacturing industry depend on accurate operation and maintenance of their infrastructure. Legislation requires the constant maintenance of essential service. Therefore a graphical information system such as Grazer has the opportunity to provide a solution to this problem.
The graphical nature of Grazer software provides end a tool where they can identify the problem, access the solution and record the remedies which will reduce future downtime through having historical retention.
Demands are on management and staff to be efficient and safe, to provide due diligence and minimal risk in the operation of all infrastructure. The implementation of drawings and documentation into Grazer during construction and throughout the ongoing lifecycle of the equipment/infrastructure minimises these risks.
